Services · Product development

An idea is a good place to start.

We help you decide what the product must do, then design, build and launch it. Our team can stay on to run it and keep developing it as your business changes.

Most products reach us half-formed. A founder has a spreadsheet that customers keep asking to log into. An operations head has a process that three different tools almost cover. Someone else has sketches, a competitor they admire and a list of forty features. Any of these is enough to begin with.

The first job is narrower than it sounds: decide what one person needs to get done with the product, and what has to happen behind the screen for that to work. Design, engineering and launch all follow from that answer. If you want to think it through before we talk, our guide to planning your first product asks the same questions from your side of the table.

How a product gets made

Four stages, each with something to review.

01 · DISCOVER

Agree the first release

Aditya leads discovery with you. We work through the users, the main task, the records involved and the choices that change scope, such as payments, approvals or who may see what. You sign off a written scope with milestones.

02 · BUILD

Screens, then working software

Our team designs the key flows, you review them, and we build against the agreed scope. Each milestone ends with something running that you can click through, so changes get discussed while they are still cheap.

03 · LAUNCH

Real users, real data

We deploy to production, set up hosting and the release process, load any starting data and stay close while your team and customers get used to it.

04 · MANAGE

Run it, or hand it over

Hosting, fixes, support and new features continue under an agreed arrangement. If you would rather run it yourselves, we hand over the product with documentation.

What ships first. What waits.

Every product we build goes through this sorting. This is roughly where the line falls.

First release

Everything the main task depends on

If a customer cannot finish the core task without it, it goes in. That often includes unglamorous work people forget to budget for.

  • Sign-in and the roles each user needs
  • The records and rules behind the main task
  • Payments, when the task involves money
  • Hosting, backups and a way to release fixes
Later releases

Things that make a working product better

These matter, but the product can prove itself without them. We keep them on a written list so nothing is forgotten.

  • Extra report views and exports
  • Secondary user types
  • Integrations that save time without being essential
  • Settings and personal preferences

Calls only you can make.

We will advise on each of these. The decision stays with you, and making it early saves rework.

  • Who the product serves first. A tool for builders and their channel partners is a different build from one for builders alone.
  • What success looks like for release one. Paying customers, a completed workflow, or staff using it every day.
  • Which rules are fixed. Pricing logic, approval limits and anything a contract or regulator dictates.
  • Who reviews the work. One person with authority to say yes keeps milestones moving.
  • Whose name is on the accounts. Domain, hosting, app stores and payment gateways are registered to your business.
  • What happens after launch. We keep managing it, or your own team takes it on.
Can we start without a specification?

Yes. Discovery is where a rough idea becomes a scope we both agree on, and that written scope then serves as the specification.

Do you stop after launch?

Only if you want us to. We can keep hosting, supporting and developing the product, which is what we do for the client platforms we have built. Or we hand the code, data, accounts and documentation to your team.

How is the cost worked out?

From the agreed scope. Once discovery has fixed the first release and its milestones, we can price it. Third-party services such as hosting, maps or payment gateways carry their own charges. Our note on software development costs explains what moves the number.
